Java applets on the eCS desktop

Ever since Warp 4 came out with Java integrated into the operating system I've been using web based applets on my desktop. This is really handy when there's something you like to check on regularly. I use it a lot for checking radar in my area and a bunch of little NASA things that I like to check on since I'm rather interested in the goings on with NASA.

All these things I use work the simplest by just making and eCS CMD file containing a single line saying "applet.exe <url of the applet>"

I have here a bunch of examples of the NASA applets that they meant to be viewed in a web browser but run great as a stand alone app on the eCS desktop.

A self extracting archive of these CMD files can be downloaded  here

Live Tracking

This is just a simple live orbital map showing where the space station and shuttle are at any time. Updates continuously.

SSOP 1

Here's the first screen of another one that after you tell it where you are and what you want to see it will calculate when it will be passing over near sunrise or sunset and be visible to the naked eye.

SSOP 2

Here are the results of the next visible flyover for the spacestation at my location.

SSOP 3

Even more convenient, this app has the "skytrack" button to show you where exacly to look at the right time.

Countdown

This one isn't that useful. It just pops up 4 little windows showing coundown info and a few camera shots that update every little bit.

JPass 1

This one is just to show the paths of a very large list of satellites. The first screen here is just to set it up for your location and what you're looking for..

JPass 2

Once set it will plot paths of the orbiting objects you want to find.

JTrack

JTrack plots and animates hundreds of the objects in orbit. More cute than useful.

That's all that I had time to toss in here. Download them, create a program object and set the session properties to run minimized. I also remember there is a really neat Visual Traceroute somewhere on the net. If I remember, it's not to hard to hunt down through the search engines.
